Day 80 of 80 Day Obsession!!!

Image
It's done! I've made it to day 80! Woot woot! Actually, it really went by very fast, and I've had so much fun with this program. It was just right up my alley. So much, in fact, that I'm starting round 2 in a week after a week of different workouts! The last workout day was Booty from Phase 2, which was, aptly named, a butt kicker. I didn't remember how heavy we lifted in the earlier phases! This last week gave us the option of doing carb cycling and adding in four deplete days in between our regularly scheduled meal plan days. I did okay with this until the fourth day, which became a bit challenging for me! I did have to have some rice that evening, I was getting shaky. But here is one of my somewhat random deplete day meals. Okay, now let's get to the before and afters! I'm really, really happy with my results. I'm down 11 lbs since day 1, 2 inches in both my waist and my hips, 1.5 in my thighs. I feel so much stronger, both physically and ...

Day 73 of 80 Day Obsession

Yikes, I've been such a slacker! Only posting-here-wise, not with my workouts and nutrition, though! I have to say, phase three here has been flying by, and now we are nearing the last week of 80 Day Obsession! Only one more workout to go tomorrow, and then the final week. And at this point, I'm totally planning to do this all over again. One reason I've been so bad about posting is that March is really busy season for me at work. I had some work travel as well, but was still able to keep up with all my workouts by shifting some cardio days around and doing those in my hotel rooms. My apologies to anyone who may have roomed under me, hehe. Here's a breakfast I enjoyed while on the road. Avocado toast and arugula salad, yumm! In addition, spring sports are upon us and with that, flag football season. My son is having a blast, especially after they won their first game! Let's hope the weather is as good tomorrow. Right now it's freezing, but it ...

Day 61 of 80 Day Obsession

How did it get to be day 61 already? Time is flying by! Thinks are also quite busy at work, so I've been slacking on getting my posts in here. We are in week two of Phase 3, which means we are back to doing 10 reps of each move for three total rounds. Today was Cardio Core, which I really enjoy, but prior to getting started it was time for some stretching. I woke up with my lower back quite tender, so I did a 10-minute yoga for the lower back practice, which is available through the streaming workouts as well at no additional charge. It was really helpful! Here are some of the poses. Yesterday, day 60, was Total Body Core. That one is also a great workout that seems to hit every part of your body. In fact, I've been quite sore again with the start of Phase 3! Nutrition is still going well, too, and I really feel like this is getting to be a habit and a sustainable lifestyle, for the most part. I do expect to have a few more cheats once these 80 days are over, ...

Day 56 of 80 Day Obsession

It's been a busy week! Time to catch up. I had to do some traveling for business today, so I got behind on updating the blog. And we had all new workouts this week for the start of Phase 3! I have to say, I love Phase 3 so far. The first week was 15 reps again of each move, for three rounds. My travels took me to Chicago, which is always a beautiful place to fly into. I moved one workout around to do it earlier in the week on the road. I brought my sliders and loops and was ready to go! With the streaming and downloadable workouts, you're ready to get your sweat on anywhere. Nutrition was pretty good on the road as well, even though I couldn't stick to my schedule quite as well as normal. I ate quite a few salads! I had also brought my superfood shake and pre-workout fuel, along with some apples and bananas, to keep me going. The workouts this week were all really awesome and challenging. I'll write about them in more detail next week. Today was booty day, a...

Day 50 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
I've been slacking! Not on my workouts or nutrition, mind you, but obviously on my posts here. It's just been quite busy with work and life, but here we go - we've reached day 50 of 80! Day 50 was also the last day of phase 2, with phase 3 officially kicking off on Monday. The last workout of phase 2 was another round of Cardio Flow, also knows as Cardio Zoo, with 6 reps of each move. Here's the last, full round. My eating has still been good and mostly right on plan! Next week will be a bit more challenging, with a business trip coming up. My favorite lunch right now: lettuce, brown rice, chicken, avocado, a little dressing and a small apple. So good! Okay, now we're coming to the progress pics! With the end of phase 2 upon us, it was time to get out the phone and take some official progress pictures. I'm down 6 lbs since day one (more like 12 since last November, when I started following the prep nutrition plan), 2" in my waist, 1" i...

Day 45 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
We have reached the last week of Phase 2! Today was the last day doing this version of Booty. And today's motto was go big, or go home. Heavy weights! I think I actually started out a bit too heavy, and it really wore me out today. But I fought my way through it. This is my pre-workout shake every day. All the nutrients and vitamins I need. With all these colds and the flu going around, I'm counting on it to keep me healthy! Here you can watch me do (and struggle through) some of the moves today! Dinner today was delicious, too. Keeping it pretty simple, but it so hit the spot. I'm becoming quite the fan of sweet potatoes. They actually taste quite good just poked with a fork and microwaved for five minutes or so. I add them to my breakfast eggs as well. My son said I look a little tired there. It was a Monday morning, that's for sure! Sometimes it's not pretty, and you just do it and check it off the calendar. Thanks for vi...

Day 44 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
I fell behind! But week 7 of 80 Day Obsession is in the books. The week ended with Cardio Flow, as usual, and I had my little side kick there to keep me going. Afterwards it was time for some stretching. I always do the day 14 15-minute stretch video right after Cardio Flow, and it feels really nice after a week of workouts and after Cardio Flow especially. All other workouts were completed with the 10-rep pattern, repeated three times, which is my favorite workout version, I think. I had a little non-scale victory this week of being able to do 10 tricep pushups on my toes - they have always been my nemesis! Food has been mostly good this week. I did have a glass of wine at a dinner celebration this week, and man, it was good! They key going forward will be to keep it for special occasions like that. Lunch may still be my favorite meal of the day. Or breakfast. Or my shake, ha! As always, thank you for stopping by! We have one more week of Phase 2, ...

Day 41 of 80 Day Obsession

Here is my quick check-in for today - Day 41! We were on to Total Body Core again, with 10 reps and each set repeated immediately for three times. I've said it before, this is my favorite way of going through the reps. You really fatigue whatever muscles you're working on, and then move on to the next thing. This workout does work the core, but I really also felt my arms and shoulders today! This may have become my favorite workout of Phase Two. Unfortunately this Wednesday was not a refeed day - that happens only every other week. I rewarded myself with some new leggings for sticking with it through 40 days! Nothing like a new outfit to motivate you at 5 a.m., right? Post workout meal came out especially colorful today. Sweet potatoes, spinach and mushrooms, scrambled eggs, all sautéed in a little grapeseed oil. Add a small banana to it, and you have covered your yellow, green, red and purple containers, plus a teaspoon. Tomorrow is leg day again! I think t...

Day 40 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
Woohoo, halfway mark! We made it! Workout #40 is in the books. It feels good, but it's also only a stepping stone to day 80 and beyond. Today's workout was Cardio Core, which is a favorite of mine. I felt quite strong today, and with this workout being at only 40 minutes, it goes by quite fast. Lot's of hopping and getting your heart rate up during the HIIT intervals, and then of course the core burnout at the end. So, time to take stock at this halfway mark. I'm down five pounds during the program, and almost 15 since November of last year. I'm very pleased with my results. I don't know if the pictures show it all that well yet, but I feel stronger, leaner and energized. This whole program has definitely reinvigorated my love for at-home workouts! Autumn explained today in our coach test group that phase two is a building phase. With that in mind, I can't wait to see what phase three will bring! But first, we have two and a half more w...

Day 39 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
Almost at the halfway point! Today is day 39 of 80 of 80 Day Obsession. And it was Booty day again, which is always a favorite. This week we move to repeating each small set of 10 reps three times. I like this pattern better than going through all sets and then repeating two more times. There's less up and down and switching of loops and weights. Booty is always a great workout, and I especially had a lot of fun in the new leggings my hubby got me! Heart butt! I went up in weights again today, which felt great. This workout was again 60 minutes long. Yesterday was rest day and meal prep day, and Saturday had been Day 38 and Cardio Flow day. Just like last week, we did the six-rep pattern again. I felt a bit stronger than the week before, so that was nice! I kept meal prep pretty simple, and prepared ground turkey taco meat, chicken and quinoa for salads. Oh, and some brownies for other members of the family! Here's a snack from the weekend - another nice, fil...

Day 37 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
It's hard to believe we've made it to day 37 already! Today was AAA's turn again, a solid 60 minutes, which actually took maybe five minutes longer for me, because I had to pause a few times. I couldn't always switch bands and weights fast enough! This workout feels a little disjointed to me with all the up and down and back and forth, and I think next week's pattern of repeating each set for three times will actually work much better. That said, I got a good sweat and workout as always with this one. Tonight we had a Hello Fresh meal for dinner. You can make a lot of these work quite well for the meal plan. This one was the Tex-Mex Tilapia. I left the sour cream crema off mine, and it was still really yummy. Some couscous as my "yellow" tonight, that was a nice change of pace too, with some cilantro and lime juice in it. In the video above, you'll see the mule kick-back move with the loop. Well, in round three my loop busted! Scared the cr...

Day 36 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
Day 36 was Leg Day, and post-refeed day! The idea of refeed day was to refill our sugar levels from eating some of these "dirty" carbs, and I did feel like I had more energy than usual for this leg day. It seems like a lot of people in the challenge group felt the same. We all went heavy and killed it! I'm maxing out my weights here at 52 lbs for the sumo squat! This is maybe my favorite workout of Phase Two. It is a bit shorter at 40 minutes, and the way it combines the heavy weights and the sliders just really tires out the legs wonderfully. I think next week, when we move to the pattern where we repeat each set of moves three times in a row is going to be quite the challenge! Here's the gang. I love working out with these people every day! You feel like you're part of the team. This is my favorite lunch at the moment. Lettuce, a mix of brown rice and black beans for my "yellow", avocado, ground turkey with taco spices, a bit of dressi...

Days 34 and 35 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
Today, day 35 of 80 Day Obsession, was a very special day. Refeed day! From now on, every two weeks before leg day, we replace all our "clean yellows" with "dirty yellows" for the day. This meant a waffle along with my superfood shake today (instead of oats in the shake). My other favorite meal was having an English muffin with my post-workout meal instead of sweet potatoes. It was nice to switch it up! Today's workout was Total Body Core. This one has some complex compound movements, but it was easier to follow this week, the second time around. This was an hour-long workout, applying the 10-rep, 3-round pattern again. I really enjoy this workout a lot. You feel like you've worked every muscle in your body. Yesterday's workout was Cardio Core, which I did, but didn't have time to post about! I had a good time with that one as well, as I felt like I was getting stronger with it - even though the ab sequence at the end still hurt! ...

Days 32 and 33 of 80 Day Obsession

Image
All right, week six is kicked off with Booty! This is a great workout to start out the week, because it's challenging and you really feel like you're working hard. But let's back up first! Friday was day 32, and it was time for Cardio Flow again, only with six reps of everything, over and over again, instead of four. It was a challenge last Friday, but I got it done. It didn't feel like my best performance, that's for sure, but sometimes you just have to buckle down and do it! Some stretching was sorely needed and felt great after. Sunday was rest day and, as always, meal prep day. We smoked some proteins on the Traeger, which came out really delicious. Preparing for the week is so important so you don't get caught off guard and end up eating something crappy! Ribs and chicken, green beans, sweet potatoes, brown rice After that it was time for an Epsom salt bath. I'd never tried one before. It was relaxing for sure, but almost too much! It...
